The purpose of this study was to conduct a systematic review of the literature on social outcomes and factors in Lean to identify the evolution and current trends in Lean execution. The implications of this work include understanding for managers and professionals about how both soft and hard factors in Lean are related and that for a sustainable implementation, the whole system must be observed. This work serves as a valuable resource that can be used to plan and manage the execution of Lean to avoid “The Dark Side”.
